New Swan Outback Awning
« on: October 18, 2014, 04:02:59 PM »
We have just order a new Swan Outback from Brisbane Camperland and still having trouble deciding on the best awning to fit. At the moment we have just gone with the middle of the range with the Getaway bag awning but would the kakadu one be a better buy or the wind out f-45 be the better option for easy set up. Any experience or opinions would be appreciated.

Mate, I don't have one but I reckon the quicker I can be set up and have a beer in my hand the better  :D. An awning without poles sounds ideal

I have the kakadu on mine, and while it is good and easy enough to setup ( even with the walls), I wish I had the windout or pull out awning.
As KB said, anything that takes less time is worth it.

I have the fiamma f45 and it is great. You will hear that they are no good in the wind, which is probably true but if you take precautions you wont have a problem.Use the legs on it and peg them down with some guy ropes and there fine, dont put it back onto the camper. The walls are pricey and not very flash imo.

I have the fiamma awning on my swan as well so easy to put up brought the walls but haven't put up yet
Purchased a jet tent instead to store all the extra gear in, as for wind we have the guy ropes on the awning and if too windy 1 minute and its packed away
Cheers Mark

Why's that Mark?
from day one it wasnt right.when you wind it back into the lock position it never lines up.seems like everytime i open it up there is a bolt/screw missing or loose.
just not impressed by the materials used in it for the price IMO.

Fair enough. Apart from the wind issues I hadn't really heard anything to the negative.
Nice feedback  :cup:

Thanks for all the replies, I think we might upgrade and go for the fiamma one. at the end of the day it will be quicker and easier to put up and down just hope its worth the extra money.

Check out the below set up.

Not mine but seen it set up many times.

Well not a lot of has happened  in the way of mods lately.....we took the Swan out to Wyangala Dam over the long weekend..in the pouring rain  >:D but had a good time none the less  ;D

Dropped it down to Peter from Complete Awnings at Penrith after our return and left it with him for a few weeks while he fitted up our 11ft Aussie traveller awning  :cup: We also grabbed a long side shade wall while we were at it, which simply zips on like the annex walls would (if we had them...lol)

All in all, it took about 90secs to set the awning up.......very easy, very strong and secure.  ;D Very happy!!!!

Here is a couple of close up pics half setup in our backyard.........there looked like a big storm brewing on Saturday, so i only set the awning up with out winding up the camper roof......but we are going away the first weekend in Nov, so will get decent pics then

I'd go the roll out awning to save setup times. I couldnt on mine because its fixed and I will struggle to get through my rear single garage.  where as the bagged awning I can remove or flip it over the camper while backing through my garage.
