If your are going to get a four wheel drive, may as well get a real one. Patrol or 100 Landruiser.

We traded our captiva for a pathfinder, auto (2011). It handles differently coz it's a 4wd not an SUV, more body roll than the captiva, but still way more comfy than any of the dual cabs I've driven, including hilux, triton and new and old colorado. The new colorado is probably the best. All of the utes were mostly empty though and a bit of load makes a big difference in the bounce of the back end.

The pathfinder is our main vehicle for round town and for trips with and without camper and find it suits pretty well. The seven seats come in handy for dragging the kids mates around, 3of ours plus extras.

Personally I prefer the versatility and security of a wagon over the 'utility' of a ute.

Hi Mate, congrats on the Pathfinder, checkout the Pathfinder forum at PCoA.org.au, plenty of Pathy info there

That's a good price for a prado that age, with low Klms.

Check for yourself, have a look at carsales and see what comes up for similar aged vehicles in your area, and then make an offer. Try and keep the family member influence at arms length.

Check out the topic on Pradopoint, 150's driven on corrugations tend to crack guards if tyre pressures are too high.

Just check the inner guard in the front wheel arch,  it is fairly rare though the vehicles with issues have generally spent large amount of it life on corrugated roads.
Sounds like a good buy and if cared for correctly like any car will last a very long time. As far as comfort goes u don't get much better.
