hello
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:19:46 PM »
Hello

Given what I have been reading here today I am not so sure this  is a good day for a long-time lurker to come from the shadows! But I am real.

My History with camper trailers goes back to the 60s when a friend of my father owned a Cargill Caravanette (does anybody remember them) which he borrowed for week and we toured the south west of WA. It rained all week and the good old Australian canvas never leaked a drop!

That was my last experience with a camper but with retrenchment forcing retirement at the end of September that could be about to change. I have done some remote travel  in he last few years in my ute with tent and swag but the comforts of a tent on wheels are more appealing by the year.

Love this forum for the hints and tips and the members trip yarns. The stories and photos are a great way to see places I might just never get to.

Cheers

Ross

Welcome Ross, I know you will get a lot from the team here, don't be afraid to ask a question or two and post a reply to help others when you can.
Cheers

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?  (Homer J Simpson).

thanks for the welcomes, I wouldn't have expected anything less

As for what type of camper, well as I said I have been lurking and have done a bit of travelling to see what works for others. I travel without a co-pilot/navigator so I don't need acres   of annexes and extra rooms.

I also think it is likely that I will be a mover, rather than a stayer in one place for  so easy set up is a requirement. I like the look of the smaller Cubs and while I haven't seen one in the flesh the two-person Camprite looks cool in concept. There are a couple for sale in WA but the price is a bit scary... as are some of the colours they use!

Another year in the workforce might have put me in the market for one of those but it was not to be.

Cheers

Hi Ross and welcome to MySwag. Can definitely recommend the Camprite TLs84-2. The price can be a bit scary ( but they are very well made ) and they are also pretty rare because I think there were only 30 built. Hope to see you out and about sometime and you can check ours out "in the flesh" .

Cheers
