Cape York – Island tours
« on: May 13, 2013, 02:07:36 PM »
Just wondering what options are available to do some island visiting/hoping while we are at the cape. Can anyone recommend any trips/tours worth doing?

Thanks  :D

You can catch Strait Magic from Siesia and then Tony's island tours on Thursday Island.

A couple of years ago we did the Peddells tour to TI and it included lunch, transfers, tour around TI including the Grassy Hill fort and museum, tour on Horn Island around WW2 sites and small war museum out the back. I highly recommend it, great information about the history of the islands.

If you overnight at TI Kazu Pearl on Friday Island is a great trip to a working pearl farm and a great lunch.

Trips to the outer islands would usually mean selling some bodily organs on the black market!!

A beautiful part of the world.

I travel to TI quite often. It is a pretty island but not the pettiest up there.  Make sure you book in a tour of the old fort.

If you plan to do the island & Horn Is. tours, I would stay a the night on TI, it is too rushed with both on the one day.

Do any of the tours visit Dayman Island at all? I'll suss out the tours but am thinking it wouldn't be part of a normal group tour. I'd like to visit in September when were up as my parents had a permanent spot on Big Dayman Isl in the mid 80's. Was a great weekender ;D
