Closure of Big 4 Northside Tourist Park Brisbane
« on: March 31, 2013, 11:21:53 AM »
The Big 4 Northside Holiday Park, is converting to an over 50s housing village. Gateway Lifestyle Limited are new operators, with grand opening 16th.March 2013. Approx. 200 camping sites/cabins will be lost.

Located at 763 Zillmere Road, Aspley, this park is a major stay for overseas tourists, en route to the north, for a well needed rest after travelling for long airway hours.

Some years ago, I contacted the Brisbane City Council, with the suggestion of developing the vacant land, Tuckeroo Park, on Nudgee road between the Nudgee Golf Club & the Kedron Brook Floodway, boat ramp, (UBD page 121 N7) as a mobile traveller’s stopover park.

This area has a wide water frontage, is boundary fenced, beside the Jim Soorley Bikeway to Toombul Shopping Centre, easy access to the golf club where meals can be purchased, onsite fresh water supply & toilets at the boat ramp parking area.

Very easy access to & from the Gateway Motorway with a complete Motor Service Centre, within the Banyo/Nudgee Industrial area.

Translink buses provide route to railway stations & onto the CBD.

This would be an ideal stopover area for the travelling tourist, especially with the forthcoming 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and:-

A community project for caravan, motorhome, clubs & their members to contribute to a worthwhile cause.

Forwarded to Councillors, MP, BCC, all NHQ major caravan, motorhome . No genuine replies to date.

Seems to be a common theme...same thing happening to the Nestle Inn caravan park over here on the south side.
