Powerful 4x4 Rear Wheel Carriers.

G'day all,

Just doing a bit of googling for rear wheel carriers and came across this....... seems like a good price...... anyone currently using a Powerful 4x4 wheel carrier?
If so, what do you think of it?

Anyway, just thought i'd chuck the deal on here, just in case someone else is interested....... looks like all the wheel carriers are going for around the $1600- mark.

On another note and on the original question. I had a powerful 4WD rear bar on my GU before I sold the car. It was on there for about 12 months and coped all the abuse I could thrown at it. Fitting was relatively straightforward. There was one brace from the wings back to the chassis that didnt quite ft right, but 30 seconds in the vice and it was all done.

Based on the one that I owned, I would have no trouble recommending one of these as a cheaper alternative to the big names. I would get one for the 200, but their design just does not suit the 200's lines.

Jimmy, suited the GU nicely...............but the 200, she has a bit more class than that

We own one on our GU 4 and wouldn't waste my money again. They are cheaply built Thats why they are cheap. We had many many issues fitting it as we got the first of the new design. They didn't return phone calls or emails when we had to chop it to fit around the doors and make our own brackets as the supplied ones were never designed to fit. We fitted it just prior to our holiday and 4 days into our mostly bitumen trip a few years ago one of the locking clasps snapped off. Fixed it ourselves on the road then 2 more days later the other one broke. 2 years down the track we have just had the bar welded up where it had extensively cracked on either side of the main rear steel section. We have also had to reinforce it when we got it welded up. I did a topic on the issues we had on here a few years ago if you do a search. We have also completely replaced and changed the latches out to ones similar to the kamar ones. With all the issues we have had and their lack of give a Shit to supplying a faulty and not tested product i Will never buy from then again. At the time (September 2010) their bar was not the cheapest but was $1000 cheaper than the arb one. I wish we be saved a bit more and bought a different one. My 2 cents.

Current one is much better. I fitted one prior to traveling to cape York last year. We did lots of corrugated roads and offroad travel. A couple of loose nuts on the first leg of the journey (bitumen) but after that, all good. Brother in law fitted an ARB bar for the same trip, also a few loose bolts but also lost some trim pieces on some of the rougher bits. All said and done, the ARB is nicer looking but mine is just as functional and less than half the coin.

There are consumer laws to protect you from product that are not fit for purpose.   You could probably still pursue it.
