Spreadsheet Tutorial, help
« on: December 10, 2012, 01:52:48 AM »
Hi Swaggers,

Just a quick question hopefully.....

Doing some expenses and costings on the current house reno, on an excell spreadsheet,
so,
How do I keep the heading bar always at the top of the page?
I hope it is described ok?
Basically, whilst entering different expenses and then keeping them into specific fields, I have the rows for dates/shop/description etc, I have to keep scrolling to the top of the page to find out what column I enter them on further over. for depending on which column to which expense.

Hope this is explained ok?

If not, I'll try to word it better somehow.

I'm usually not too bad at excell, but having a brain freeze moment and cant seem to articulate what it is I want??

Go easy on me swaggers,

Cheers in advance.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Hi Cruisindub,  I assume you have a column on the left for the details of where the money was spent and headings across the top?  If so put your cursor in the cell beneath the heading and in the column next to your details column, ie lets assume cell B2 then click on window in the bar across the top of the page and click on freeze panes.  This will allow you to scroll up without losing headings.  to remove go to same spot B2 and click on window and click on unfreeze panes.  Play will the cells and adding it and removing it till you are happy with where you put it. Cheers Lesley

Hi,

Yes, just a simple budget/expenses record of what we've spent where for the house renos, just basic info etc.

We've got enough columns/rows to keep scrolling up and down the pages etc, while going across to enter the figures, keep tally etc.

I'll check out the freeze panes, in view tab, hope I haven't been taxed  that as well........
