making tracks c/t brisbane

On the search for a c/t stumbled across brand called making tracks . Anyone got one or heard much about them. Claim to be Brisbane built and engineered. That might be another way of saying designed here made in china and assembled here. Cheers

When we were looking at getting a CT we went and had a look at making tracks and had a good talk to the guy, Bob, I think was his name. He said he used to get Nathan Trailers to build the trailer but now since they had gone into receivership he is now using economy (I think), he only had one CT left in stock made by Nathan.

He was very helpful and the trailers looked to be of a good quality, for the price, and the tent seemed ok too, I think they are their design but made OS. We seriously considered buying one of the off road models but decided to go with 2nd hand one. When researching them I could not find any reviews on the making tracks CTs I think I may have found one or two posts referencing them, although it was hard to find due to the generic nature of their name.

Will be interesting to hear if any swaggers have one of these. Good luck with the search.

I work just up the road from them.
 Can't honestly say where they are built but I see a lot of containers there.
Containers normally mean overseas though.
I haven't looked close at them but the prices seem ok.

We bought a Making Tracks offroad ct from Bob about 2 years ago and couldnt be any happier
Trailer was made by Nathan Trailers at Brendale and top from China but no complaints good quality .
Have used on several trips and the latest Cape York on the telegraph road with no problems.
Had comments from other travellers that it was well built.

We have an on road making tracks camper bought a year ago. For the price we couldn't be happier. It has weathered some rough weather and is proven weatherproof. Nathan trailer and chinese tent. Excellent after sales service.

The one I picked up the other day (Lite off-road) is made by Economy trailers at Goodna.  Pity with the weather in Ipswich this weekend I haven't set it up yet.

just upgraded to a jayco but our making tracks was great only had a small problem with the internal poles coming apart (after i loaned it out silly me). but they were very helpfull in advising me of repairs and supplied the parts free of charge.

I've got a making tracks full-gal offroad. Definitely a Nathan trailer and a chinese tent. I would say while although Bob is a good bloke, he's really just an assembler. My few issues, that I was fully aware of when I purchased it -

Tent-struts in a stupid mid-trailer position
Tailgate Canvas cover wont actually cover the tailgate opening when the tailgate is open because it's not slotted to allow for the hinge corner of the gate.
Standard garden fitting drip-stop connector on tank outlet. Great, except they dont stop drips without mains pressure. They just let the water out.
Gas bottle holders are bolt-clamp, would be better as over-centre latches.

Now, having said that, this is not my first camper. I had a great old Cameron Canvas job previously but wanted a better trailer and the deal worked out pretty good on the Making Tracks. Overall, it's pretty decent, and it was the trailer that sold me. The tent is pretty good for a chinese jobby, and those few little things that were wrong would have been changed in my customising anyway, except the struts, that's just stupid.

If I had my time again, and only had the same budget, I'd be going to Lifestyle and getting one of their new base models. I reckon for the extra grand they're a better prospect.
