Brisbane water sports locations?
« on: November 03, 2012, 10:32:02 AM »
G'day guys,

I have just been cajoled by the misses into buying a new boat and we are heading up to Brisbane next week to pick it up.
My question is, as we are staying with friends for a week, does anyone know of anywhere inland (lakes etc) close to Brisbane where we can take my mates kids out on the tubes and kneeboards?

Cheers

Somerset Dam,
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

Moogerah Dam near Boonah.... we also go out skiing on the Brisbane River, if skiing out of the boat go to Jindalee boat ramp..... just have to watch out for the bull sharks...... ;D

have to watch out for how fast the river can flow also. we've been at a mates place at Bellbowrie launching from his jetty, and whilst waiting we were jumping into the river for a swim, amazing how quickly we were going past the jetty there with the flow of the water  :o :o i will say though, once off in the middle of the river, the thought of sharks was going through my mind, atleast with the muddy water you wouldn't see them coming i suppose...lol
The smell of bacon proves aromatherapy isn't total bull$/!t

Thanks guys, but I think anywhere where there is less chance of sharks means that the girls may go into the water, so a dam sounds good  ;D

Evo, I was just stirring you up mate.. in the years (20+) i have been skiing on the Brisbane River we have never seen a bull shark, we take dogs and children who happily swim in the water, sometimes we come home with less children and no dogs but..... ;D.... the floods of 2011 were great for the river... cleaned it out.... if we have a big group we go to a location not far from the Goodna boat ramp... has a great beach that is fantastic for families....saves driving so far to the dams.... have fun whatever you choose to do,
