Hi from another Xtrailer
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:31:33 PM »
Hi to all,
The journey to here began December 2010 when I bought the Xtrail. 82,500 klm behind us, I still enjoy it today as I did back then. After looking at wind up campers at the Caravan show June 2011, decided that would be the way to go. I ordered the Jayco Hawk in May this year and took delivery at the end of July. Since then it has been fitted with the full Kakadu annexe, bed flies, and off side awning. Bought a rug from one of the rug places for $99 which has a neoprene rubber backing and after some hours of measuring and cutting, the whole floor is now protected. The Thretford fridge was a non goer from day one but now with a completely new thermostat assembly goes like another. It also now has a 120ah battery, LCD tv bracket on the outside, a TV pole and antenna.
The pole carrier was an event of it's own as fitting to the front A frame didn't allow the wind up handle to work. After much measuring, testing, ect came up with the rear mounted version. Had to be low enough for the number plate and spare tyre, but high enough to allow access to the  stabilizer jacks and far enough out to allow the bed supports to be fitted.

............

Where to from here? Health and wealth permitting, we are looking at a trip to Cameron's Corner next April / May, hopefully I will get much needed advice here.

Cheers
John

Hi to all,
Thanks to everyone for the welcome. When I wrote the introduction, Hi from another Xtrailer, I didn't realise that Xtrail was also a brand of camper trailer. Was doing a search on Xtrails when I found that most of them our behind a vehicle, not the ones doing the towing. Things you learn in a short time.

Hi johngqld447,

Would be interested in seeing some pics of your rear LCD tv mount setup.
Is it removed for transit?  Is it attached with rivet nuts?
Thanks
