solar led shed light
« on: May 08, 2012, 03:31:04 AM »
Hi swaggers,

Anybody using one of these solar led shed lights from bunnings, $22.00

Thinking of getting one for a front entrance light at home, use while camping.etc

Any comment on the 10 x 10mm led?
couldn't find any Watt size noted on the box.

Any recommendations for a similar light not required to be electrician wired in?

Cheers.

Edit, can't attach photo to thread direct from phone. Its 'Solar Magic's brand, labeled as 'solar shed light with remote control'

Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

I keep meaning to grab one for the tent. Used to have one in the shed and it worked well

I have a couple of the solar magic step lights

They haven't lasted all that well, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I think it's just the battery is getting overcharged or undercharged, or just plain gave up. Either way, my steps aren't being lit up any more. The housing and everything is fine, so I'll take it apart and see if I can replace the battery.

But, for $20 for the two, I've certainly had my money's worth.

Tony

(EDIT: Forgot to say I haven't had them in place for 12 months yet. And they are installed in full sun, north facing)

I installed this solar powered led light when I could not use a 240v security light, the small solar panel sits on the roof above the light and is held in place by silicone.
It's been installed about 3 yrs now and I've changed the original battery for a new one

from memory it come from Bunnnings too
