Troopy or Workmate, which way to go?
« on: April 17, 2012, 02:58:35 PM »
Hi all
Apart from looking for a CT, I am looking at a new Toyota.
Looking at at the above title and trying to work out which is better suited for our needs.
It will be a daily driver
It will do at least a trip to Cape York next year and a trip to Mulan (tjupurulas' town) the year after.
The Troopy is taller and longer than the Workmate, but shares the same motor.
If you have any ideas let me know.

Hello Wayne.

I owned a 1999 HZJ75RV Troopy for 11 years and it served me well until I recently replaced it with a 2012 VDJ76R GXL Wagon.
The differences between the V8 powered Troopy & wagon are:
The wagon has one fuel tank the Troopy two
The wagon 5 doors, the Troopy three
The wagon is shorter with less cargo area, The Troopy cargo area is legendary.
The wagon is about 4 inches shorter than the Troopy, Thats about it.
Are you looking at a 11 or 6 seat Troopy?
Will you be needing to access the back seats at all?
How many people will be seated?
Regards: Grant

Hey Grant
Thanks for that. Yes I need seats in the back for our daughter. So it wont be an 11 seater. Yes the troopy are great for space. I am a bit worried that doing some heavy duty 4wding  the girl might tip over. They are pretty high. What are your thoughts.

If it was me, Workmate would be the go, especially as a daily driver. Size of vehicle in town for parking, access doors will all make life easier.......
