Anyone seen a "HALLS "camper (Shepparton VIC made) before ?
« on: February 08, 2010, 08:38:25 PM »
Hi all,

My old man has a HALL's camper which he bought second hand around 10 years ago. These were made in Shepparton, Vic.
I believe they stopped making campers a while back. Can't sat that I have seen any others about.

Dad's one has the ALKO IRS. It is a side flip soft floor tent. What is unusual about it is that it has a rear kitchen.
So what you say. The rear kitchen is in its own box at the back of the camper.
The kitchen box has a flip up gas assisted lid that opens up the top and front of the box.
The kitchen has a gas oven (yes oven, with gas hotplates), cupboards and a 3 way chesscold fridge.
Underneath the camper is accessable by doors on each side, and under the bed when the tent is set up.
It has an integrated front storage box. The tent ,when folded, doesn't cover the whole trailer side to side, as there is a long narrow storage box on the LHS which has an axe and shovel mounted on top.
The trailer is well built and looks bullet proof.

Anyone else seen one of these around ?

(yes I know, where's the photo's ? I don't have any, and he's a bit far away to get any soon.)

Yep...friends have one and I've used it several times and its what got us into camper trailers. It was this trailer that actually made me say to my husband "I think I could do this in one of these." He was a bit surprised at first but it was then something that we started to seriously consider and has since led me to getting the Customline. In my search, I did actually look for Hall's and even found a secondhand one for sale...but for various reasons, in the end went with new instead.

I've heard that people hate this design and whilst I'm sorry to hear that they're no longer being made, I actually think it was a very good camper. I liked the way the kitchen was set up, quite frankly. The only thing I would have liked with this camper would have been a proper awning enclosure and some better way to tidy up the storage underneath the bed. But other than that...it was a great camper trailer.

Hang on to it, I reckon you've got a keeper there.

Sorry I haven't got any better photo's of it. But I do and can have access to this camper if you would like some more images for any reference.

HI Wayne, I owned a Halls Off Road Campertrailer for several years, sorry now that I sold it. We travelled right up through NT and across the Gibb River road and home via central WA without so much as a broken egg. :D
While travelling through Shepparton on a trip I called in to meet Keith Hall. Nice bloke and a great source of information. He was happy to pose for a pic and give our trailer the once over.

Happy Travels Dave

Great idea with the rear kitchen and full size passenger side storage box due to the drivers side fold over.  Funny that this has not been done by anyone else, every other guise of camper (except maybe camprite) seems to have many manufacturers with there own small twist added.

I would like to see more.  My only concern would be sealing that kitchen box, being at the rear I reckon it's seals would have to be very effective to work in the bulldust.

Burnsey, the camper that I had use of was fairly old but I never really noticed much if any dirt in the kitchen side of things and we did drag it down some of our dirt roads out here. The worst of that one was the drawers were all made from metal and so were pretty heavy, though I think later models by all accounts had a different drawer system in it. Amazing layout really with the stove and three way fridge installations. Probably my main bug about it was how high the sink was and that there was no bench space really. But a table that was matching the kitchen did well for bench space. I still think its a great layout for a camper trailer. So easy to pull up and lift up that lid to your kitchen!

I know this is an old Thread, but its seems the only one on the Halls.
I've one as well, and made up a Google site for it.
https://sites.google.com/site/hallscampertrailer/

Its been a fantastic Camper, we bought it from friends who had it from new.  I'm selling it now with much regret as I can no longer use it (long story).
But I will keep the site going for past and present owners.  I may move it to a forum at some later date.

 - Updated-
Sold it in May to a couple in Batemans Bay, they were previous owners of a Halls and wanted one again.  Says it all I guess!

I saw these a few years ago through the showroom window in Shepp. Got family there.......

Saw one set up in the Bear Gully camp ground near Wilson's Prom a few weeks ago.

I reckon they're OK......... :cup:
