As I am going to stay at a c/park a couple of days before the departure date are there any other members
that plan to do the same, if so should we all try and stay at the same park.

Some stayed at Lake Placid Caravan Park which is only 5 klms from where we leave and is close to Smithfield shopping centre ( Departure ponit )

Others stayed at Cairns Coconut Resort which is about a 15 to 20 Min drive to smithfield. This park is ideal for kids.

We're leaving Sydney on the previous weekend so would hope to be in Cairns for a couple of days prior to departure. Would probably prefer to stay at the closer caravan park (Lake Placid). We don't have kids with us.

We're in a similar situation.

We'll be leaving Melbourne around 9 June, and have booked Lake Placid from 18 June. Should allow plenty of time for a leisurely trip to Cairns, with a few days of resting/sorting/looking around when we get there. It will be 30 years (+ a couple of weeks) since our last visit to Cairns..........on our honeymoon..........

    Hi

Booked in Lake Placid from the 19th onwards, reckon it will take about six days to get there from Melbourne plan on doing around
500 km day  not sure of the route to take yet, had better book the boat to the mainland and work from there.

Hi Greg, I'll be going through Rocky  between 6 and 7 Wednesday morning. We might run into each other on the way. I've got a maroon colored Bt50 dual cab with a canopy, no trailer.
I'll have my two way on channel 10.

Hi Greg, I'll be happy stopping anywhere as long as we get to Cairns around lunch time.

Last year I pushed hard and got as far as Tully, took about 14 hours. I don't want to do much more than 12 hours this year.
