An NRMA freebie for 16 to 20 yr olds
« on: April 23, 2012, 01:04:47 PM »
Our 19 yr old has just gotten 2 wks holidays, and is about to take off on his 1st solo road trip - Moruya to Taree.
He's a sensible driver, but has really only driven in a 100k radius, so easy to call if something goes wrong. My main concern being if he were to break down in the middle of nowhere, he's not really mechanically minded, and lets face it, not always up to thinking logicaly - lack of life's experience!
We decided to sign him up to the NRMA. So I jumped on the net last night, & discovered they have a membership called Free2Go for 16 to 20yr olds...Free
It is a no-frills package, but they won't be stranded miles from home, alone, and covers them for whatever car they're driving as well.

What they're covered for
Bob and Robyn

I would get him to look at taking breaks as well, our daughter was in a similar position, only ever driven to work and back and short trips an hour or so from home.

She found that on her first really long drive, she was loosing concentration and getting droopy eyes after a couple of hours, she had the common sense to  ask if she could pull over(UHF call to me) I know I sound like an old fuddy duddy, but hey, better that and your children safe I reckon 8)

Great little package that by the NRMA

Yep. They promote it heavily in the schools. Daughter signed up a couple of years ago.
Cheers, John.

Great little deal, I had it back when I got my P's, so it's been around for 5-6 years at least.  Recommend it to anyone, you get the NRMA discounts with the F2G card as well IIRC.
