CIL are dedicated to camper insurance but they are more expensive in general.

I'm with GIO and got a significantly lower quote (when compared to CIL and others) because I have everything insured with them.

One thing to watch for WRT all insurers is the level of contents insurance they provide and the related exclusions.  Some insurance companies will sell you heaps of contents cover but will not pay out on stealing because the goods cannot be secured within the tent or camper.  We have a Swan and were advised by several companies that they wouldn't cover breaking and entering despite having a locked door.  They quite rightly argued someone could enter via the bed ends so we kept the contents insurance to the minimum.

Good luck.

FYI - just got a a quote from CIL to insure a soft floor camper worth $9000. Quote was ~$240 per year. Has anyone had considerably cheaper quotes than this?

GIO for similar amount  is $180 (with our multi policy discount).

Minimul contents, most of our good gear is in our household policy for theft purposes.

Covered for road, not off road use (disussion now moves on to what constitutes "off road") ;D ;D

Thanks Mace!
My quote was a single item (no multi policy discount) as my house/car insurer wouldn't touch the camper trailer! have spent a bit of time looking through the CIL policy and it looks pretty reasonable to me. Hopefully never have to find out though.

I'm with NRMA. The insurance is basically useless for contents, but overall trailer and structurally is all covered. I recently had a claim through them after my CT tent was flattened by a storm. Scarilly thay hardly understand what a CT is but their assessing company are great and it was cash settled in under a week.

They were around $270 for $12k CT + annex + contents insurance. I will be shopping around when policy is due though because I lose 20% off the no claim bonus after this claim

Got a quote for the new purchase today from CIL, the sum insured will be twice the amount compared to the swan and the premium is only marginally dearer then what I pay now with NRMA....may be goodnight NRMA.

MHIA looked good, but not offering insurance for caravans and campertrailers as they are changing underwriters or some such. So move on to see if I can find another that covers canvas sided annexs... Bet I wont find any.
