Electric Hub Motor for your off road camper

Because I'm still laid up with my busted foot....
I've been lurking about in other sites, hub motors for vehicle applications are starting to take off.
it won't be long till some one sticks a pair on their camper trailer!

*regenerative braking to assist with battery charge
*ABS braking function

* And off course there is a legality issue for having a trailer's wheels powered on normal roads but think about 40-50kw per wheel in a short burst for getting up that hill or through that deep sand, even makes power in reverse..

Who'd be up for that?

In my case the trailer would have more power than the tug.

JC whem I see the price tag on some campers and how quick they sell that would not be an obstacle for some of our brothers and sisters that have the financial resources for such a project.

food for thought whilst your laid up,
instead of electric, how about hydraulic, with a set of free wheeling hubs, I know that this application is used in Augers ( http://www.parkessteel.com.au/_product_49449/Hydraulic_Drive_Augers ) and cherry pickers, sometimes known as Hydraplats,
lots of logistical problems with a power pack, oil (extra weight), etc etc
how about a driven trailer via a pto shaft (diff) with free wheeling hubs,
anything is possible if you have the time, inclination and lot of $$$
just more food for thought.............

awesome idea, especially for us with underpowered tugs Cant see it taking off in a hurry however. Dont most of those motor run of 48+V? That'd be a fun thing to setup batteries and charging etc.....

I thought of hydraulic but you know the electric jobs are flick of a switch and you are happening with it, little rheostat connected to the accellerator, and off we go.
got to dig into this more

Why not go the hog & drop a V8 onto the drawbar with a diff under the CT. Would make getting around switchbacks easier.
You'd get some looks at the lights as well.
