Blackwolf Turbo tents - lite V canvas
« on: January 09, 2012, 11:02:57 AM »
Team.
Had a search and none with what I was lookin for. :( suprised it hasnt been asked before.

In need of a new Tent for takin 1 or 2 kids away without trailer, I use a swag on myown, so thats not an issue. Not interested in Flys and tarps and crap. Want quick setup.

Been watchin ebay/trading post for few weeks for used, but not much around except NSW or Qld

I was lookin at Oztent RV2-3's but they are worth Diamonds. Then saw few threads on the Wolf tents..  Lookin at the BWolf Lite tents, and wondering how good they are compared to the Canvas. This will be used 2-5 times a year, so dont wanna spend a grand, but dont want a sieve either. Or do I go with another 9x9 cheapy...

Oztrail 9x9 canvas $260
BW Lite 240 $470
BW canvas $800
Oztent RV $800+

Thanks
Me.

Cannot add any personnel experience Lost but during the holidays i saw a good dozen of the lite tents out and about and they seem like a good bit of kit

I have a blackwold twin turbo lite and would recomend them highly. I spent nearly three months camping in them, including torrential rain. The only issue I found with them, is that the canvas can get wet in a lot of rain and if you sleep to close to it you will get slightly damp.

Found them easy to put up and down and the thing that takes the time is putting in the pegs. I did a lot of research before buying the tent and reckon it is the best. It has a tough floor, with a deep side and easy to set up. Have been in rain and a lot of wind and had no issues. It sort oif sways in a lot of wind.

We  have the BW 240 with the canvass, no the Lite version and we love it.
Yes, it i heavier, yes t is more expensive.
But it also has a bigger awning then the lite version, a thicker flooring.
We have used it for 5 years now and still going strong.

We also have a Black Wolf Turbo 240. We feel the extra dollars spent, rather than buying the lite version, has been worth it. Very happy with the tent. We have had it in some very windy and wet conditions. The only disappointment is the size of the tent bag. It could have been made just a little bigger to assist with packing the tent on cooler mornings when the material is harder to fold etc.

We have a 300 plus lite which has been good - but it still has a fly and the awning is part of the fly.  You can go without the fly but it isn't 100% waterproof without it, and there's no protection over the front door.  The fly adds some time when setting up, but only 5 mins tops.

I like the look of the jettent with the awning attached to the tent so there's less need for the fly.  They are expensive and heavy though.

The new 2012 blackwolfs might be more waterproof without the fly, dunno.
