Map of Oz to track our progress
« on: December 04, 2011, 01:26:43 PM »
Hi all, I want to find a map of australia that I can put up on our fb page and on my thread here http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=15516.0 to track our progress around oz. Just something that I can  draw my own route on and add to as we go. Preferably with roads marked on already. Anyone done this? Whats the best way to do it?

Can you draw in your route. Not just the roads that are marked cause we do a bit of track driving on our trip too.

You could do as pen.sco suggested, as well as setting up a page on Google Sites.
I Haven't done this.
On our last trip we used Google Maps to plot our trip.
Then Linked it to our site.
September 17th/Oct 15th 2011
We then were able to update the different stages of our trip. We would then post updates to FB as we went.
Look into Google Sites as a way of hosting your trip.

Hope this is of some help.
Happy & safe travels

Similar to pen.sco, grab a snip-it of your chosen google map and take it in to paint and draw in your trip for the day and save it. Or if your got a GPS running Ozi you can do some amazing stuff when combined with google maps.

Hi,
if you are just doing a simple trip on roads, you can embed them in MySwag from google maps and they are interactive.
i.e. your reader can zoom in on the map anywhere of interest.
Some examples here

cheers

Ok I found a map with basic roads on it and imported it to paint. Then drew in my route so far. Seems to work ok.
I'd thought of Ozi but gotta remember to set it up to track my progress when we travel. I'll try that for the next leg of our trip.
Its a bit hard to see the route and you cant zoom in but its a start.

Hi,
you can use google maps to make a track and export the kml file to Ozi and see it on your  new map if you loose your Ozi track.

cheers
