$15,000 what do i buy
« on: November 22, 2011, 10:27:27 PM »
hi guys I'm looking for some help here .i have $15k to spend on a offroad camper .
my location is newcastle and I'm not worried about having to travel to find or order the right trailer i really would like to buy from a reputable manufacture that offers excellent after sales service and good warranty. I'm not interested in buying imported crap or a trailer that is quickly slapped together.
my wife and i like the look of the jimboomba Madison and explorer trailers fitted with the staircase we haven't yet seen one in the flesh only pics and youtube .
basic things required are descent size water tank (85LTR),stainless kitchen with bench, big tool box,2 gas bottle holders,2-3 jerry can holders (lockable),battery box, brakes, strong and robust construction,9-10ft tent that is quick n easy to setup and that is made from Australian canvas .greasable hinges and shackles.stone guard
i think that's about it and i think i could be pushing my luck for my $15k so if anyone could help out i would be very appreciated.

Regards Tristan

I've seen the Jimboomba campers and they would probably fit in your budget, In my opinion they ok pretty good. I don't know much about Explorer, But I  think they are on the Central Coast so probably worth a drive. If you are going to QLD its probably worth checking a few others as a comparison, Track about and Lifestyle are 2 that come to mind in that area. Good luck with the search.

I've got a 2009 Trackabout 4x4 Deluxe Tourer that i bought new well under 15. It doesn't have a stainless kitchen. I happy with the build and layout.

Cheers

Have a look for second hand "Challenge" campers.... we love ours.  Also, really check out the kitchen layout. If you can keep the better half happy then most of the problems are solved!

There is a Trackabout dealer on the Central Coast. He is a memeber here as well.

We got our Customline Off Road Deluxe for under $15K with extras !!!!  Biased opinion here too but hell here it goes...  ;D

Try Customline's website as they have like a shopping list so you can add on what extras you want and can tally it up as you go....

Also if you want to see one in the flesh give them a call and they will put you in touch with someone close to you who owns one that they can show you.

We really liked the canvas & trailer quality and their after sales service has been amazing.  Very friendly people to deal with.

Lots of brands out there.....good luck with your search.  Try doing a list of what you want and see which one ticks the most boxes.

hi,
i had this same situation and i wanted the same things you do, i ended up buying mine from great aussie campers in sydney the only thing i had to settle on was the stainless steel kitchen i ended up with a drifta kitchen instead but i could of got a stainless steel one but couldnt justify the extra $2000. there tents are 15oz canvas on both roof and sides and really well made the quality is second to none. i have only had mine for a month and we just got back from our first trip from hawkes nest and it exceeded my expectations. i am also located in newcastle if you want to know anymore about it you can email me adamhudson25@gmail.com hope this helps

Depends on what you are after...

I had a little more than $15K and IMHO I bought one of the best Soft Floor Campers for that money... May not be the most popular mainly because they don't advertise and the work force is only 2 but the quality is outstanding...  You wouldn't be disappointed... Scott hands sew all the Canvas and it perfect in everyway....

But due to these campers being unknown resale could be a problem...Having said that ours won't be sold but passed down the family as it will easily out last us...

http://www.explorercampers.com.au/

Check them out and they will have options for $15k but probably not all the options you would like so you would have to look at something a little cheaper....

Good luck

WOW that was quick

This Friday???  So it was a stock model then???  I thought they would have quite a long waiting time as they are pretty popular.

Well done though, look forward to seeing the pics of your new Trackabout!!!  :cup:
