In 2006 we purchased an Oz tent RV4 and had 2 of them replaced under warranty due to being stitched incorrectly and leaked in the rain.
We also found that when we got into cold temperatures the condensation inside on the roof was unbelievable "unless" the optional fly was fitted.
When the second Oz tent went back under warranty we asked for a full refund which to there credit they did.

We then purchased a Southern cross touring tent (ultimate 11) and have not looked back since, great for short trips when moving every day.
It fits the wife, myself and three kids with room for our bags as well. Doesn't leak or condensate is quick to erect and pack up and the finishing with canvas and stitching is top class.

The mattresses we chose were the Thermarest self Inflating matts they have also been fantastic and roll up very compact, we have had these for 4 years now and they replaced our old air beds.

In saying all of this the Mrs and I said we would never buy a camper trailer but we have currently placed an order on one for the big lap planned in 2014, so It will be interesting to see If the trailer then goes on our smaller trips and replaces our current set up???

Hope some of this helps

Cheers

Towing the Trackabout is pretty much the general consensus.

+1. The Trackabout won't be a problem. You say you've spent some time on it recently, I'm sure you won't have an issue.

If you want to do any serious exploring, leave the camper at camp and head off in the car. But from what I hear of this last cape trip, that shouldn't really be necessary.

Good luck, whichever way you go!

We did that Matto. We towed up to Sams Creek but took the bypass around Gun Shot. Not that we needed to have as we found out the next day. There is a by pass out of Sams so we stayed there 3 nights (Frostd and us) Headed to the Dev Road, down to the falls one day, down the dun shot the other then up to Nolans the next which we were *we* were glad not to tow as the camper has a few leaks and it was quite deep when we were there. Plenty did tow though and with the right prep, tyre pressure etc no worries. Plenty didn't plan though and drowned camper and car.

So as you say, there's no worries to tow

Yep go with the camper extra 15 minutes or so to set up is nothing really when your on holidays bit more in fuel but well worth it in the long run witch ever way you go you will have a great time
