Hi,
A bit more of a risk on your part, but could save you money depending on what local prices are where you buy and then sell.
A friend was moving from Adelaide to Hobart, found it was cheaper to buy a flat tray truck, box and tarp all his house hold goods and drive it to Hobart.
He then used the truck for about a year before selling it for more than he paid for it.

Depending on vehicle market differences from Wollongong to Townsville, you may save a bit, or not.

Worth checking out the possibility though.

cheers

Try Sargent , Avis  Murphy . What you are looking for is a relocation on equipment . Your not the only one that wants to go 1 way . Have a poke about , as I cant remember the site , but its Cars to go . The rental companies will give you a cut rate & a few days to take a rig from here to there . Its all the go with mobile homes , & will be with trucks .
Its not a matter opf asking at the front desk its the relocation department  you want to go . Find a rig that sout your need then work out how to best make it work for you  .
You can go your own way . Treg Up & Make Dust

Don't think they are still at Albion park. Does anyone know of a good removalist?

A lot of the Hire places like Budget. Thirfty Avis etc do hire oneway however they may charge a relocation fee to bring the truck back,
so a removalist may be the better option,  call some in the area your going too, they may be looking for back loads.

Have you thought about using a container and send it by rail.  They will hire you the container and look after the collection and delivery.  I used to use QR.

cheers

I looked at this about a year ago to move from Sydney to Adelaide. I ended up going for a shipping container. I packed and wrapped everything and they loaded - removalists will always pack it tighter and take up less room. I used this mob http://www.hannanremovals.com/domestic.html and I insured the move with Suncorp who were one of only a couple who would do it and the cheapest.
