New CT Warranties
« on: May 10, 2011, 08:23:42 PM »
I'm just wondering how comprehensive warranties are on new CT's - especially if something breaks when off-road. Most campers are advertised as off road these days but will a 10k camper manufacturer / importer  fix something broken up in the Kimberleys. How do they assess that sort of stuff and how well covered is the purchaser?

Every manufacturer will be different to a degree as to what they'll cover and where, this is what you need to ask the camper supplier you are looking to deal with and get it in writing.
but even in writing it really doesn't mean a great deal, had a mate with a new GU Patrol Ute, both fuel tanks fatigue cracked in the Kimberely's and he was left well and truely high and dry, Nissan claimed it was abuse, the car had 10,000 km's on it. Cost him $1600 for 2 new tanks, Nissan wiped their hand off him.

Hey Mark,

I guess it's a case [for the manufacturer] of preserving their good name...I know that quality manufacutrer's will make good any warranty matters & some give up to 2 years on there warranty.

It's really a case of getting what you pay for.

I think the issue with camper warranty is that one doesn't necessarily reside in the same state as the manufacturer, and so getting issues appraised and resolved is difficult for both parties.

Buy a good second hand unit anyway, and just fix what you need to.

One of the first things to check when thinking of buying is research the after sales service and what is covered in the warranty, then I look at the product.  Always consider that something will need replacing and if you will need to fix it yourself.  The internet is a great place to search how people like or dislike products, because if something goes wrong and the manufacturer wont stand by it they want to tell someone and what better to get a point across than the web.

As stated before every manufacturer is different. I have had a cheap camper and now a Kimberley and I am happy with the warraty and support Kimberley provide. I think it also depends where they have agents.

Oh my god this is meant to be the desert!! Where did this water come from?

Ours had a 3 year warranty.  About 2 years in we had an issue with ours, not that things were broken but I just wasn't happy with the performance of the brakes.  I was given options which included the CT going back to their workshop in Gosford (they were going to pick it up), them supply parts to me for me to do work myself or them supplying parts to a mechanic of my choosing....  Couldn't ask for more!

Aussie Swag manufacture the campers.  They give a 2 year warranty on anything they build, and recommend you contact them first if something goes wrong with parts from other manufacturers.  They will happily help you out with parts, repairs, etc years after the warranty expires, even if you are the 10th owner.   They have a business to protect and they back up their fabulous campers with fantastic after sales service of all kinds!  Nothing is too hard for the Aussie Swag team ... a really great bunch of people!  They even answer stupid questions from me!!!!!
