Jayco's - what trips have they done?
« on: January 15, 2011, 03:50:10 PM »
(Sorry if this has been asked before)

Hi all

Was wondering what successful remote/hard trips people have taken their Jayco off road campers on?

We did the east coast of oz but that was 90% blacktop with some dirt and national parks.

Has the simpson been done with one? Flinders Ranges? The cape?

cheers

Plenty up the Cape when we were there last year.  Plenty with panel damage as well.  There were 23-24ft semi-offroad vans doing the Developement Road up there as well.

That was the one hooked up to the Pajero.  Not enough suspension travel and got hung up on some grass.  ;D

We took our 07 Hawk to Arkaroola on one of our two trips there without any issues except for a little bit of dust inside.

We took our Eagle OB thorough Flinders Ranges, along the Oodnadatta track, the length of Merinee Loop Road, into Palm Valley along the river bed and then across the Plenty / Donohue Highways. We broke a weld on a mount somewhere along the Plenty / Donohue and lost a clamp on a hose from our water tank in the same area. Otherwise there were no issues.

About to do 5 weeks through the centre.

Oodnadatta, Flinders, Centre, Macdonnell ranges etc............
Fingers crossed all goes well.

Some people choose to rough it others like to go in comfort............... :-* :-* :-*

We did a trip last September with 4 camper trailers. Only one that had any grief was an ultimate!!!!  :-[ >:( :-[

Biting----yes.......Only cos I have a Jayco and have high hopes for it!

We did the Strezlicki track to Innaminka a couple of years ago .This was our first trip in new jayco hawk OB .
Probably not a good idea at the time but by the end of the trip the only damage was to the watertank guard
and shock mounts .
With the mods we have done since from things learnt on that trip we would have no hesitation going there again.
cheers Paul
