Dual cab ute reviews
« on: June 15, 2022, 09:27:29 PM »
So im looking at a dual cab ute.
The old GQ patrol dual cab i had is gone, and my lancer just isnt cutting it.

Missing having a play 4wd, and ute to rake bikes out, rubbish runs etc.

So looking at another rig under the 10k mark in manual, turbo diesel. (WA market/prices)

Seems options are
RA rodeo
Tf rodeo
D22 navara
Mk triton
And early 2000s bt50.
Very occasional hilux comes up, but usually high km and late 90s model.

Really want something with under the 320k km mark, and 2000 models upwards.
But keen to hear everyones...first hand.... reports on these rigs.
Power
Offroad ability
Fuel usuage
Common problems
Pros and cons.
Ability to mod, including diy suspension install, roofs racks.
I want all the dirt on these cars, or options i havent thought of.
Personally not keen on d40 navara or colorado. Had mates with both, wouldn't own one, sorry to those that love thiers.

Hopefully maybe this'll help others looking too.
Pic for bit of colour on my post.........pics of your rigs encouraged to give me ideas haha

RA rodeos had very reliable and economical diesels, not sure why they weren't more popular. I think ground clearance wasn't that good.

My mate is just about to sell his dual cab 2007 Triton manual but it's V6 with canopy and nudge bar and roof racks, around 300,000km but well maintained and quite clean. He gets about 13L/100km but he drives pretty steady. I think he's after about $8-9k.

A triton with the 3.2L diesel is your best bet for a triton.

2005 Jayco Dove - sold
2003 Coromal Pioneer XC

Hi late ra early colorado rc up to 2012, and dmax  4jj1 engine are the best out there in that class,  the earlier ra 4jh1 engine is also reliable, just not as much power, tf 2.8 is also very reliable, but very hard to find a good one now, only thing to keep in mind 4jj1 is common rail, ie clean diesel needed.
i have worked in the in automative, holden, mazda and isuzu dealership for nearly 40years, so speaking from experiance, my tug is a 2010 rc colorado 325000kms, great vehicle.
Cheers, Chester.
