Foxwing awning on a soft floor camper

Just wanted to check if anyone has tried to fit (or retro fit) a foxwing style awning to a soft floor camper?

My thoughts were to mount a bracket down the side that the camp it doesn't fold open towards. this could possibly be raised. Then the awning swings around over the tailgate. You could have flaps sewn onto the tent that Velcro on to the awning to stop the weather getting between.

I understand that patriot campers do a similar thing.

Just looking at some easy setup and time saving ideas.

Yeah I do. It still takes about 15-20 min to set up.

6 poles then 7 spreader bars. Then I rope it as well.

I'm just sort of thinking out loud to tell you the truth.

I set up a patriot one and was lucky to be 5 mins. That's with ropes.

Patriots have a fixed surface to mount to where as a softfloor doesn't, you would need 2 fixed uprights on the side of the trailer to mount an awning to which may or may not interfere with the setup.
  The awning on my trailer would take no more than 10mins with all the poles/spreaders which i rarely use.

Ours is 6 poles and 4 spreaders... We usually only use the 2 end walls near kitchen, add an extra 5 mins.

The Spreaders are a bit of a PITA, but serve a purpose.
Might try without the spreaders on the ends and just the 2 in center next time... not sure if it saves time, probably 2 minutes if that.
Must admit, in a wind the big awning can be challenging...

Slightly off topic, but I came up with a way to do without ropes, assuming it's not windy. Bought a SupePeg foot for each pole and screw attached them to the poles. Hammer a peg through them and no ropes required. We have four poles running along the annexe, so if there's a bit of wind, we rope the end poles. More wind, the usual rope on every pole. Seems to work really well and not having the damn ropes out the front is great.

They can't go up because they're pegged in.
They cant go out because of the horizontal poles (up the top) that attach to the tent.
The entire awning can go left - right though in wind though, hence wind == ropes on the end poles.

Oh, and the awning can't come off the top of the poles because of the little orange pole toppers (TentWorld have them).

Mate, we had a small "Travel Awning" made up that only covered the kitchen area - Zipped from the peak of the main CT roof then down to form a part end wall - only needed 2 poles & pegs etc to set up and it stayed attached - ideal for over nights etc.

Another option that some people use are the pop up gazebos as they are pretty quick, biggest issues I see though are bulk and water getting between the tent and the gazebo.

We got rid of the inner poles as well by propping the awing off the camper with KK Kwik-Awning ridge poles, but ours is a hard floor....

so you have more poles, spreaders in each direction?
EG: around the outside and from camper etc making a frame round the whole outside and spreaders from camper to each up/down pole ??

Sorry no photos but 3 spreaders front to back. These are the style that go over the top of the pin on top of the pole. The four that go from centre to outside (front and back).

It most likely sounds like overkill with ropes but it is solid as a rock when the wind picks up.
