Pajero footrest - 3D print
« on: March 07, 2018, 06:24:52 AM »
hi all,

one thing i have noticed with the Pajero is that it doesn't have a footrest where the left foot goes (mine's an auto)...

it's just carpet at the moment, so the footrest would serve to protect the carpet, as well as provide a stable footrest...

after searching on the Pajero forums, i came across this, that someone had designed and tested:

takes about 3 hours to print, apparently...

i was wondering if anyone on the forums who has a 3d printer would be willing to print this out (in black)?

i would be happy to sling some $$$ their way for their trouble and for postage...

plans are here:

any help would be appreciated...

Brace pedal. That’s what it is called. No such thing as a footrest. Sorry, years of defensive driving courses create flashbacks.

I have a foot rest that I purchased from AMAYAMA TRADING Co.   Others on the Paj forum have also bought them cheaply enough.  Why dont you pm njswb and see if he can make them on his printer ( he is a forum member). Thats the Pajero Forum of Vic...best Paj forum around.

i saw that others had bought them... that's where i got this design from, that same thread on that forum... :)

this one might be a bit cheaper and a bit nerdier... :)

if i can't get one, i'll probably buy the part from amayama...

just a thought...

so, did you have any issues with fitting the one you purchased?  did you have to buy threaded rod and couplers, etc?

I've fitted an earlier model Pajero footrest to my NX and all you need is a hex coupler and some 6mm threaded rod (cut the head iff a 6mm bolt) washers and a nut. Parts were less than 40 bux all up from memory. Easy fix. Why reinvent the wheel.

Make up a cardboard mock up to the size and shape .. Then fold up a bit of  4 mm  Ally checker plate sheet screwed or bolted to the floor, Always worked

Some libraries now have 3D printers, might be worth looking to see if yours (or a nearby one) has one.

Was also going to suggest this. As an example, State Library of QLD has a 3D printer you can use, just pay for consumables apparently.

I just used a genuine Mitsubishi footrest from the older NS series Pajero.  To my surprise, the genuine rubber mats fit perfectly round the NS footrest.

About $30 from Amayama including delivery!

yep... already aware of that... that thread is where i got the 3D print idea/plan... :)

may end up purchasing genuine footrest, but just thought i would ask around here about the alternative first...

i think the 3D printed one would be more robust, but may not be an realistic option...

thanks all for their input...  :cup:

Depending on the density of the 3d print, the genuine rest is going to be stronger.  3D printed plastic under pressure can separate...

Yep..Bunnings have the coupling and a bit of threaded rod.  Simple enough to do and definitely good on a long drive

very much appreciate the offer, mate...

but i am a bit OCD about these things (character failing) and it would annoy me to have it there, knowing i could have had a genuine one... :)

thanks again for the offer.
