Any such thing as good metal adhesive?
« on: March 01, 2018, 09:34:26 AM »
i have a timber cutting bandsaw and the metal bracket that holds the guides for the blade broke.
it is some sort of cast alloy, and the local specialist welder who can handle cast aluminium can't weld it. He has the opinion it has Manganese or other content and gave up.
It is too small to drill and pin it so I am hoping a good adhesive may work.
There is no high pressure required just moderate tension and no compression.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Ian

Metalmend epoxy, Permapoxy, JB Weld, the list is long . Some  are two part ribbons that get kneaded together others are in two syringes that you mix two parts together most all should work for you .
Bunnings .Autobarn . Repco local servo $12 >>  $25 range

Unfortunately no. Too old (both me and the bandsaw)

We've had good success with a hole on the crank case on our old XT600 with one of the 2 part metal puttys - I think we fixed it about 2 years ago now, and it's still holding fine.

x3. Great stuff. You can grind it, cut it, tap threads into it, and it sticks.
