Hi all
Just bought a brand new Camprite TX6 MkII, which is our first foray into camper trailers but not touring and camping.
With a recently expanded family of five, a few months ago decided we needed to upgrade our vehicle as the Prado just wasn't going to cut it for extended touring. Took delivery of a new 200 GXL and have been fitting it out in preparation for a trip to the Pilbara in Sept. The camper was in the back of our minds for the future so the cruiser build was focussed on touring with just the car.
Started doing some research on campers anyway, with the prime criteria being small enough and light enough to follow the cruiser just about anywhere, and room for the kids. That ruled out all the big hard floors. Of the remaining contenders the Patriot X1 was at the top of our list, with a TVan close second, although both would need some thought or compromises on how to accommodate the kids.
Being in WA it's not easy to see demo models so I booked flights to the Melbourne 4x4 show this weekend.
A few weeks back I happened to be talking to a friend who is also looking at campers and he mentioned Camprite. I hadn't heard of them before but took a quick look on their website; the product seemed ok. With kids and preparation of the vehicle for our trip they were put on the back burner, until this week when we finally took the day to visit their showroom.
My partner and I were very impressed. Low weight, relatively short, but most impressive of all was the accommodation - can sleep all of us off the ground on proper beds. One final factor is that being local the after sales service and support will be much easier.
They just happened to have a nearly complete unit with all the options we would have ticked, and they can have it ready to go in time for our trip, so a deposit went down...
Just waiting now on wheels/tyres, and a couple of other bits and we'll be done!!
