In 2000/1 it was referred to as The Dish but now and before 2000 as the title says.

been to the  Tidbinbilla site in ACT that is the actual dish. The site is actually part NASA. First thing they tell you is they were the "actual dish"  and then go on about not getting the credit they were promised  by the movie company  ;D

Bit hard to vote on this.... we call it the dish but when talking with people who aren't familiar with the movie we refer to it as the radio telescope  and then explain about the movie....

I went there waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back 1974/1975 Christmas school holidays . I was with the Queensland contingent of boy scouts heading down to Adelaide form Brisbane for the 74/75 World Wide Jamboree .

We did a bus trip and Parkes and Canberra were part of or on tour stop overs. We were given a full tour of the facility, bloody impressive . Well it was for a 15 year old boy from the bush.
