MAC Guru - help needed
« on: December 23, 2016, 11:58:29 AM »
Hey swaggers, my Apple Mac has gone and done itself a mischief!!

I can turn it on, but won't go any further than the apple symbol!

Does anyone know a good computer technician in north Brisbane that can help me out? I have rung apple care and they seem to just shove me onto someone else or try and get me to pay $199 for one of their technicians to find the problem and then get me to pay more for the product I need!!

Cheers in advance!!

Might be a bit too far north for you.

This guy is a mate of mine and as far as I can tell he's pretty bloody good at anything apple

Try holding down the option key when you start it. Then see if you can view the partitions (recovery etc). Hopefully your hard drive didnt die  :'(

Make an appointment at the genius bar at the Chermside Apple store. It's free and they're as the name implies. You can make your appointment online.

Depending on how old your Mac is, holding the R key as you turn it on, until the progress bar appears, should start it in Recovery modem and allow you to run Disk Utility to repair, or reinstall the operating system.

I'm led to believe that if you hold it high above your head jump  and slam dunk it to the floor at least several times Whilst shouting "  RRRRPHUKKITTT  " can be a permanent fix for this sort of problem ..
