We went to the QLD caravan show yesterday and checked out the conqueror uev-390 and the patriot x1.
The conqueror setup (layout and inclusions) looked good, however the construction was not up to scratch, flimsy doors and pin latches where disappointing.
Patriot x1. Great looking solid construction, good awning and tent setup, easily accommodate bike rack. But over priced, small fridge box, over priced, very little in the way of inclusions, small stove and expensive options.
One of the best things about the x1 (and the Drifta DOT trailers) is the use of custom foxwing/rapidwing type awning. These are sealed to the trailer, can be raised and can be deployed without settling up the tent. This is great for roadside shelter over the kitchen area for lunch stops etc. It would be great if something like that could be incorporated into your design.
We have also checked out the Metalian Maxi and we love the trailer, the support and positive attitude from Offtrax and Heinz (Metalian South Africa). At this time I think the trailer is let down by the tent (lack if midge mesh and gaps in the tent left and right hand sides against the trailer where it goes from horizontal to vertical). I understand that a new tent is in development and depending on the time frame and the result the Maxi could well be a great choice. We have asked Offtrax to keep us informed on tent development, they say it should be done by early Aug, good thing we aren’t in a hurry.
