burning pine in combustion stove

Supposedly bad, yes, but if pine is seasoned properly is it really that bad? We use a lot of bluegum but would like to utilise some pine that im cutting down, mix it in with the bluey or stringy that i generally burn?

I've had access to a lot of natural pine over the last few years, and at times burned it in our combustion heater almost exclusively.  I visually checked my flue before the winter season this year out of curiousity, and there was zero build up anywhere in the chimney.

I'm can only assume that so long as the pine is well seasoned and you get your fire well lit before turning it down (such that it doesn't smoulder and smoke), you shouldn't have any issue with build up in your flue.

At our last address in the Blue Mtswe where surrounded by radiate pines which we progressively removed and split allowing to dry over minimum 3 years. We would burn it as a fire starter and to get heat into the box or iron bark that we burnt. Never had an issue except for it got hot. Like rotate said the flue always remained clean. The fire was burn pretty much from Easter to the October long weekend and then sometimes on Xmas day. Don't have that problem anymore here in Brisbane.

I seem to remember being told the reason not to burn pine is it can accelerate the deterioration of the fire box

I have been using mostly pine in our coonara for the last 2 years and apart from not lasting ad long ad a hard wood , I can't see any detrimental affects.
