My whole shed was shaking & $hit falling off hooks.
Was a very sureal feeling.
Was a bit of a bang & i thought something hit the shed & then the wobbles. Probably lasted 5-8 seconds. Now just waiting for tsunami as I'm only 150m from beach ????

Nothing like an earthquake to make you wonder if your tilt slab workplace was assembled correctly :)

You would be absolutely amazed how many recorded tremors we have had in NQ. In the job I am in I have to know all about these type of events. I was only using out work software recently to look at records over the last ten years in NQ and was amazed at how many we have had.

We had a tremor a few years ago and it was only a 3.1 from memory, anyways this occurred about 40-50 kms from our house. At the time,I actually thought a car accident out the front or a car had hit the house.
Difference between a 3.1 to your 5.8 is massive. Rector scale works a factor of 10 meaning a 4.1 is ten times stronger than a 3.1, 5.1 is ten times stronger than a 4.1 etc.

For reference the Newcastle earthquake back in the late 80's was a 5.6.

We had a little tremor the other night. I was awake(insomnia) and felt a light shake. The one we had about 12 months ago Shook the whole house including the recliner I was attempting to sleep in (Insomnia), the bride came out of the bedroom in an awful rush. Was pretty cool and scary at the same time.
Cheers, Mike.

A huge earthquake hit Redfern in Sydney overnight.

It did 4.8 million dollars worth of improvements.

I'm up in Townsville for work at the moment.  Had not long picked up my hire car, was sitting outside a customers practice, vehicle in park with handbrake on and the car started bouncing and felt like it was trying to move while in park.
I thought I'll take this POS hire car back right after I see this customer.
Walked in.. They said did you feel that earthquake???
I owe Europcar an apology for the thoughts I had...
