Just an Idea for Roof top Tent owners?
« on: August 19, 2016, 05:56:52 PM »
I recently purchased a second hand roof top tent (ARB Simpson III). The tent is a rear fold and has a fully enclosed annex which also has a rear zipper for rear vehicle entry.
I have covered the rear and rear side windows with reflective sheeting but have come up with a problem at night when the missus undresses in the annex, anyone can see in from the front sides windows when the tailgate is open and set up.

I find closing the rear tail gate  a PITA when set up.

I've come up with a solution.

Velcroed block out curtain on the hanging from the vehicle roof between cargo cage and rear seat.
Curtain is fire retardant and can be taken off off at will.

Any thoughts?

Whatever works. :)

Reminds me of the story of two female backpackers in a wicked van who decided to send some special pics back to their respective boyfriends for Valentine's Day. They took said pics in the back of the van and when they got out, realised they'd forgotten about the front window of the van and given all the grey nomads a bit of a show...

I got a bunch of small metal loops and riveted them onto the floor of the folding 1/2 of the tent, then ran shock cord (bungie cord) around the perimeter of the floor and then across on the diagonal.

It gives a nice handy place to hang towels and the like to dry. In your situation, you could then use it to hang a few towels as to act as curtains and save doubling up on the gear you are carrying.

I have a photo somewhere, but can't find it now.
