So how did 2016 pan out for you...
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:21:47 PM »
For us it was an interesting year.

Got married at Uluru and caught up with family and freinds.

Threatened to be sacked for giving 6 weeks notice at our job in Warburton WA when we got back from our wedding.

Left Warburton WA after 11 months working there. What a Shite place.

Traveled the Kimberley and worked at Mt Barnett Roadhouse for 2 months

Got a  new job managing a remote store at Peppimenarti NT where we really enjoy it.

I think I lost more hair, yes hard to believe but I am sure I missing at least 22.

Still in great health, toned up alot working in the warehouse out here.

Kids are going great and making Dad proud

Parents are still in reasonable health.

Lost some relatives to old age

Car and camper still going with no issues

All in all a good 2016. Lets see what 2017 brings

I was actually having this chat with the wife yesterday. Our 2016 was very good, my new job is going very well, the missus is enjoying her new role, our son did well in prep. That said, we attended way too many funerals in 2016, a couple of older relatives and unfortunately a number of people our age who died suddenly.
I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…

Work - Outback
Play - Prado

Not such a bad year. Went from fitting to boilermaker/truck driver ( hard on worn out back ) to truck driver ( long hours but easier on the old bod ). House renos coming along slowly. Everybody happy and most importantly, healthy. Great camping throughout the year ( albiet not enough ) but overall we're pretty happy with our lot. This years going to be soo much better but. Got 10 days planned in march for the Davey high plains. And alot more time out with the new camper.  I got a good feeling about 2017. Bring it on.

A mixed year - travel being great as I had an overseas trip plus a three week trip to Kakadu and Litchfield.
Health was ok, although another bad cycling accident saw me use my face as a landing pad at 55km/h resulting in three days in hospital, a bleed on the brain, and plastic surgery.
Business was an absolute shocker - second worst year I've had in 17years, the worst being my first.
Family are all good and healthy, but the two sons are growing up fast!

Geez JCOC,

Thats not good to hear.
Hope things get smoother for you!

Kids have both done very well at school, both academically and sporting wise.
Were happy and healthy......touch wood.
Bought a boat which I am really happy with.
Had some great holidays...not least surfing in the Mentawais again....I love that place.
Best year of business 15-16 financial year, it was good to have a catch up year after the GFC. Got a bit slowere becasue of the election, but back on track now.
No funerals last year after a pretty Shitty run in 2015 with 4 of them.

I am very glad to see the end of 2016. 2014 saw the passing of my sister, 2016 has been the 2nd worst year for me compared to this. Bring on 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing every body a happy and prosperous new year.
2016, well mixed bag. Lost my best mate(wife) 43  years of wedded bliss, then lost her mother 2 months later, daughter `s marriage broke down, all of this in the first 4 months. Also lost 2 close mates, known both for over 55 years.  Last 6 months were great, toured WA for 5 months, mostly remote and on my own, covering 26000ks, learn`t a lot about myself, started to write poetry and prose, started to enjoy music, lost 27kg`s and now looking forward to 2017.

2016.

First full year as Medically Retired after 33 years and still going through the disengaging process for final  payouts etc, could take a while yet.  Have spent most of the year between Brisbane and Sydney seeing Doctors along the way.  Basically yes the body is stuffed but at age 52 I am too young to do much, if I still want to be able to continue doing what I am now.  I just have to learn to manage the pain.  When the pain becomes too much and my circumstances change I can have the op and the limitations after the op means I will not be able to do what I can now.

We had planned to do a few things, trips etc at our pleasure but our live in house sitters, daughter and son in law, left for the States leaving us to try and make alternate arrangements for the animals etc when away.  Just as well they like our dog at the RSPCA shelter.  But it has given us time to try and sort ourselves out a bit, improve our health as best we can.  I lost about half the weight I wanted to lose, so do the rest this year.  Also keep improving the van so when we do get away it will be better.

Plans for 2017 are more like general things we would like to do.  Due to our combined medical conditions we just learn to live and enjoy it from day to day and make the most of what we have.
Cheers

Al and/or Jan

Each of the last  years were worse then the previous.
If I can get this one back to simply being rubbish, I'd be happy.

2016... oh where did you go so fast?

Another new town & another new beginning. The kids settled into to school & sport a lot faster than normal & really excelled which made two happy parents. The cook picked up full time work at the school straight away & enjoys what she's doing, that's handy given she's studying to be a teacher. For me, work was good, less money but I'm happier there.
Socially, we camped more, started getting back into shooting again & got the kids into plinking targets again. I went to the Cape with mates, now I can't wait to get the family up there again.
Aside from that, it was just another year that ticked over at extreme speed.

2017... Trip to stanage next week cancelled due to moving house (who moves house in the middle of summer?). A trip to Mansfield planned, more family orientated camping trips & hopefully a new car. Hopefully I can reach my goal in the fat swaggers thread & start enjoying a healthier lifestyle.

I hope all you guys have a great year & also hope that a turn of good luck finds some of these guys that posted above me.

A couple of wins with legal issues, pretty much SNAFU with health, and helping the quacks build their retirement nest eggs .. Other than that a flat lined year year with a couple of small blips .
And 17 isnt getting off  to a promising start either , BUT heres hoping ..
