""Have a bog standard 68 series 2 Land Rover I think your vehicle is too technical to be considered a true off road vehicle""

Hi Skinny, today I was at the third cutting coming off Teewah Beach and saw two left hand drive Willey's heading up the beach, leaving a few dozen Jeeps behind them, maybe it was a mass breakdown ))) just joking.
Had to wait for quite a while as two vehicles towing trailers had to be winched / snatched out into the cutting, they had blocked both lanes.
Was a nice weekend on Teewah.
Cheers.

I don't understand why people say it should have four doors and seven seats.  As mentioned before that's what the Prado is for.  The FJ as I understand it is based on the three door (not four door) Prado Chassis which is why it is lighter than the 4D Prado and more designed for recreational rather than a family off road tourer.  The suicide doors are a compromise but 100% better then two doors in the 3D Prado on which it is based.  They're built for a different demographic.  Great for two people for touring with the power to weight ratio.  No diesel! Now that's a valid argument, the limited volume put paid to that.  Mind you the petrol six is bullet proof and there is the 10K saving on purchase price over the Prado.  With both doors open you can use the blower vac and a damp rag for a quick clean given the vinyl floors and water resistant seats.  I love it.

Yeah that's pretty much how one couple we spoke to with one up at Alice described it. He reckoned it was pinching Prado sales with the discount and it buys a lot of petrol with no CRD turbo engine hassles and maintenance expense. He was interested in our Suzy SX4 experience and with only 2 of us the back seats are gone and the 4 door allows good access to gear in the back. Got a good deal on a low km black one but not my choice of colour and the Cruiser gave me the idea of white vinyl wrap on the roof and it sure makes a difference in hot weather along with slightly illegit window tint. Like you say I really miss the vinyl floor in our 92 L Series Subaru a few cars back. Why do they persist in putting crap carpet in car floors for chrissakes, or at least give us the vinyl option like the Suby?
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.
