Hello everyone,

How many Aussie made campers out there that sleep 6 up off the ground?
I know about Camprite. Are there any others?
 TIA

Most of the jayco's would sleep 6, but sure you have already thought of those.

Also some from Goldstream, Roma.

Hi  eb589,

Agree that most Jayco's will sleep six off the ground.
We have had our 82 Swan for nearly 7 years now(Sleeping 5 of us), sure it's been modified and we have rebuilt/changed things, but it has served us well.
Also depends on your budget too.
Here are few searches

Hope you find what your looking for.
Safe & Happy Travels.

Yes I have seen those. But are they built for conditions like the Gibb River Rd?

I probably should have mentioned that I am looking for ones that can handle the harsh environment of the Kimberly region. Sorry!

You could look at the CUB Spacevans with double bunks.

Sleeping 6 might be a struggle (depending how small the smallest are). Goldstreams have done Gibb etc plenty of times without dramas. Always worth a look, we love ours.
Other than that a couple of the double fold out hard floor campers look good. Could always have a couple of people in a roof top tent and look for a 4 birth camper.

Let us know how you go.

Some hybrids can sleep 6. We have two bunks (convert to couches) in ours so we can sleep 6 if needed.

What's your definition of "off the ground"? Is that your only criteria, other than tough enough to go anywhere? I'd suggest you reconsider your objections to "on the ground" and open yourself up to a bunch of quality campers.

It seems like Camprite could do the trick.
There's also Stoney Creek Campers FF6. Anyone now much about these? They aren't actually fully Aussie made but finding it hard to find one that's fits the bill.

Trak Shak can do 7 sleepers easily. 6 in the bed areas (including the retreat) and 1 on the main tent floor.

There is a Forward Fold facewastebook page. I think a few there have the Stoney Creek model.

...and you can take them anywhere - very strong units.

I also like the look and functionality of the Stoney Creek FF6. Although can't seem to find out much info from people who own one. We are a family of 5 looking to do some extended trips to the Cape, Kimberlys etc.

Stone Creek are made by the original guy who started Trackabout. From all reports one of the better units going around. Might pay to contact Steffo1 as he's cast an eye over them. I think they're out at Bundamba near Ipswich, 20 mins west of Brissie

Thanks Dave. I had a look over I when I was in Ipswich last. They look the goods, but I haven't really had a look at others yet to do a fair comparison. All that the Salesman explained about how the campers are built seemed to make sense, the build seems to be quite robust.
