Stanage Bay advice?
« on: August 25, 2015, 03:32:47 PM »
We are thinking of a few days in Stanage Bay area - in a month or so.   I have been there many years ago - in the 60's, so I really don't know the area anymore.   I assume the road can only be better than it was back then, although I don't expect too much. :)

I read that it has free (or donation camping areas). I have searched around, but can't find a map that shows where they are.  Endeavour Park, Happy Valley, Porters Creek have been mentioned.  Anyone know of a map online I can look at, or advise me on these places, and any others around Stanage?  Any spots to camp near Alligator Point?

Is fishing off the beach any good - I seem to remember it used to be?

The wife is a little afraid of crocs.  I don't remember seeing any there, but I assume they must be around.   Is swimming/snorkling OK.  Also, we will be camping, in a camper trailer, and therefore sleeping up off the ground on the trailer - safe enough?

Mate give Bevan or Marree a call at the Plumtree store they will let you know about the camping areas etc, they are right across the road. There number is 07) 4937 3169

A mate has a beach house there so we normally stay there so don't know much about the campgrounds...

Thanks.  I believe the one over the road from the store is the Endeavour Park one, but I read about other options.  Just want to find out what my options are. :)
