Meh......its ok.

Worth a lap but take your own lunch as the food is as crap as any other theme park and just as expensive. Try RACQ or google for cheap tickets.

We went in January last year, it was a nice zoo. Not the largest variety of animals, but the habitats were nicely done and the zoo was exceptionally clean. The zoo had a lovely feeling and my kids really enjoyed it.

The zoo isnt that big that you shouldnt be able to easily see the whole zoo in one day. Make sure you catch the transport/train thing that goes around, the drivers give commentary as you go and it can be a good way to get between areas.

The Bindy show is just singing and dancing, wasnt really our thing. Its right before the Wildlife Warriors show - that was great! Dont be to tardy or seating can be hard to get (we went in school holidays though) The Irwin family were in attendance when we were there, but I think the show would be pretty good with or without them.

We went to a croc show held in one of the enclosures, wasnt going to but thought meh, why not. Glad we did - it was really good.

Wish we went to the birds of prey thing. Didnt go because I thought 'Birds, how exciting could that be' Then they had some birds at the crocoseum and they were actually really fun to watch.

Took the kids to the animal hospital, was interesting but a little underwhelming and would not rush to go back there.

We had an animal encounter, if it is within your budget and your not likely to go back for years and years then I would recommend it as being something you will fondly remember. Different encounters have different age restrictions and only a limited number are available for each encounter so you need to head to the kiosk and book as soon as you enter. We did the feed and photo with the Giraffes which was great and the kids really liked it. Our friends have previously had the Tortoise encounter and really enjoyed that.

There are a few feed the animal spots - Kangaroos and farm animals. Make sure you have some change to buy some food. From memory it was $3 a bag.

As already mentioned, if you can take your own lunch. The food was average at best and expensive, if you go after the Wildlife Warriors show - which starts at 12pm the lines are HUGE and you will be hard pressed to get a table. (Keeping in mind we went during the school holidays)

Will you be camping?

I should add that if we were to go again (we are up that way again this coming January but don't plan to go)

If we were short on time we would skip the animal hospital - though the statue out the front made a very nice photo for the kids to curl up in. And would probably miss the bird enclosure, unless your into wetland birds and Brolga's.

Hope to have been some help.

We were just there 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic. $179 for our family of 5 with the RACQ discount which, compared to the theme parks, was great value. The crocuseum show including the big croc feed and tease session and the big birds of prey and smaller birds doing there routine was great. The kids were hoping to see elephants but we were informed that unfortunately, they had died and they were waiting for new ones. Easy to spend a full day there and there is a shuttle bus thing to get you up the back of the park if your legs are getting tired. You can easily carry your own cut lunch and drinks in a backpack if you want. A great variety of animals and all in all, we loved it.

G'day,

I've been a number of times. I used to live on the Sunshine Coast for a few years in the early 2000's. I remember going before it was really popular and before they had the crocoseum. They did the croc shows in the small enclosures (I thinks they still do but not as good as they used to be) and you were a lot closer as apposed to high up in a grand stand and had a better view of the crocs. By the way the hotter it is the better it is for seeing croc feeding, as they dont really eat much when its cold. Have been both in the middle of summer and winter and in winter the keepers say the crocs are not really interested in eating. They did grab at a bit of chicken I think it was, but didn't really do much.

Was there again a few years ago and it just seems so commercial now and all so busy.

Ah the good old days....
