What do you mean by portable??  240v powered vs hand pump style.

I have a battery operated one from one of the trade shows. 

I wouldn't call it good.  The 'sealed' bags seem to let air in after a while.........

My next cryo machine will use he single use plastic, not reusable bags.

I got one from Crazy Sales, but I wouldn't call it that portable.  Dad takes his sunbeam 240V with him, then when he stocks up on meat, camps at a caravan park and seals away in the laundry ;D! Kris.

I recently bought a PAVO food saver from Shopping Square (online).
Works well, came with a few bags, but I have since bought two rolls from BigW that work too.

It was on sale when I bought it, $59.00.

So I guess it comes down to whether you want portable, this one is smallish, no bigger than a show box, but does need 240v to operate.

Got the sunbeam brand as well works  great, guess if you have a big enough inverter in your set up, it would be the way to go to power it ..
We havn't been on an extended trip yet longer than what we can carry most supplies  from home ..

You dont need a big inverter to power them, ones that ive seen (including our Aldi one) only draw 100w approx.

I bought this one. When I do a meat shop, we'll just plug it into the inverter. Its only on for a few seconds for each bag. So easy to use and, if you marinade first, the sealing draws all the flavour right into the meat....DELICIOUS!!!! I'll also use it for vegies...blanch first, then seal and freeze. Better than canned or bought frozen.

Initial draw is more than this. We had a 300W inverter and it wasn't able to handle it, so we now have an ebay 600w that does the job fine.
