Hi, bubby and I are thinking of purchasing a used Heaslip camper trailer. Anyone any thoughts on them or has anyone near Adelaide got one that we can have a look at?
I'm not in Adelaide, but I reckon they are the ducks guts.
Is it the standard or extended length version?
Does it have a full annexe?
I have the standard length and I'm prepping it for McGirr's Kimberley Trip in 2018.
In short they are rock solid, built Aussie tuff and can go anywhere.
Mechanical over ride brakes are more than adequate.
Eye to eye 'rebound' leaf springs. Later ones came with bump stops, which are easy to retro fit.
Later ones had external water filler, most fill directly when the tailgate is open.
Spare wheel between the gas bottle and twin Gerry can holder on the front bar.
I have fitted a second under the rear of the trailer, using a Toyota wind up mechanism.
They demonstrate most of the bells and whistles on the current crop of popular CTs aren't necessary.
Don't have a front box, but heaps of internal storage. ( I have seen one with an under slung rear spare
replace the front spare with a small tool box.)
Fantastic pull out kitchen, with full size 2 burner stove - much more functional than a portable camping stove like many use.
'Quick annexe' covers the kitchen area and is ideal for over night stops.
Happy to answer any other questions you may have.
