Camping Around The Great Lakes Area NSW
« on: January 17, 2014, 12:47:31 PM »
Just planning our next camping trip. Looking for suggestions on Pet Friendly Powered Campsites in close prox. to a dog friendly beach around Forster, Tuncurry, Port Stephens area. (still saving for 12 volt kit and solar, hopefully soon)  Site needs to be large to accommodate our CT.

Have been sussing out the Lakeside Resort at Forster and it looks suitable, so will phone them after the school holidays.

Any other suggestions, greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Can't go past Lakeside Resort! Been going there for a week or so every January for about 7 years. Massive sites, great sunsets over the lake. Pretty quiet and dog friendly.

Edit: Sunsets you could expect from the waterfront sites!

We stayed here the Easter before last and it was beautiful.

We had a waterfront powered site. Brilliant. Water was shallow enough for the kids to walk out a long way.

It is out of town a little bit (which we liked, as we used to live there and wanted to stay away from the crowds)
Not sure how far the dog friendly beach is but lake is right at your front door for doggy swims.

All amenities were new but not enough on such a busy weekend.

Our site was really big and fitted our 12ft Customline & annexe easily.

One of the best parks we have stayed in.  Highly recommended it.

Thanks so much xmasbaby67 and Jacmark30, glad I'm on the right track. Remy our Border Collie will be very happy to see all that water right at his front door, he's such a water baby.

We just returned from 31 nights in Smugglers Cove holiday Park, Forster.

Murray and Sharon run a great park.
Pet friendly out of peak season, (during peak season, by request)

Lakeside campsites are terrific. Water 8 metres from camper.
Pool is huge and there are 3 of them (1 kiddies only - (pee pool))
Restaurant was pretty ordinary this year, but lo and behold a week ago they sacked the chef and now its really good.
Entertainment of some sort most nights, and its walking distance to the pub!!!
Ask for site 73 - best in park, and tell them Brian from Rouse Hill sent you, they'll take care of you.
Back to a swag!

Been going to Forster for years and have never heard of Lakeside Resort...but will have to suss next time we're up there! Pics look great and reasonably priced to the others.

We normally stay at Lani's as it's super close to friends and makes for a good stumble back after a few drinks etc.

Also, there's a ripper beach we went to with our dog - awesome place near the dunes but you gotta drive there. Co-ords -32.189041, 152.535154.
