Strava and MMR are pretty much the same. Strava just had more critical mass as far as local riders goes. And you have to register for either to log your rides. Both very good at what they do though and well worth the hassle of registering.

I use MMR simply because I had used it well before strava gained more recent traction and could never be botheted changing over.

Prolly better to go with the numbers if your starting out and register on strava.

Cadence is so 90's,

Struth Mate, I only recently sold my 1989 Peugeot Road Bike which I was till using when I got the flash new type.

It seems no mater what I chose then I'll need to register for it, what a Pain. I'll use the Strav and set it for private.

I ride on my own, I ride for the Fat Busted Prevention Program which I maintain, the bike shop didn't seem to understand that I didn't mind a bike with a little more work to pedal it, means I work that bit harder.

There is a group of tosses on the nth end of the Gold Coast who swarm all over the road to ride to a trendy cafe for double latte expressos and bacon breakfast over 3 hours and then ride home on their $10k bikes. Yet I happily cruise by them on my half price, last years model sell out special $1,200 jobby ignoring them when they try to talk to me as I have some old school progressive trance techno tunes in my ears.

Thanks TK for the links, it has given me something to sort through to see what I need.

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.

Strava it is, thanks again folks, just got to get home from work now to go for a ride.

BTW real men ride mountain bikes OFFROAD :):):):)

Love the mountain bike to, but sadly reoccurring shoulder problems prevent the sort of riding I want to do.

I upload to Strava from my Garmin 510 with the cadence and heart rate monitor. Then I analyse what the heart rate was through the hard sections against my speed. Strava with just the basic use from the phone is a good starting point though.  :) ;)
