Travel trailers for beginners?
« on: September 26, 2024, 05:53:24 PM »
My husband and I are in the market for a travel trailer and would love your insight.

We have 2 young kids and don’t want to have anything giant (25ft or less.) I know we’d use the trailer a lot more if I knew they both had a designated spot to sleep (as opposed to them sharing the dinette bed or putting them on the floor). I love the floor plans that have a queen bed and 2 single bunk beds. I’m also super nervous about water damage, which seems to be a problem for a lot of trailers. I like the idea of an airstream for that reason, but obviously the price seems insane, and there aren’t many bunk bed options.

We are very much in the preliminary stages of buying a trailer, so I don’t even know our price point yet. I would guess we wouldn’t want to pay any more than $50k, but definitely would prefer to be less than that.

What trailers would you recommend? Any brands that notoriously build with high(er) quality materials?

GDay folks, Im thinking youre referring to a 5th wheeler as you mentioned an airstream?

Im not aware of anyone on here that has anything similar.  It might be worth checking out something like the FB Group 5th Wheelers Australia?

Have fun with your search and travels which follow.

I'd suggest hiring a few trailers for weekends to see what you like/dont like and what you NEED over what you think you need.

Theres plenty of options out there, actual caravans, campertrailers, hard floor, soft floor, forward fold, rear fold, Hybrid trailers - all have their + and - and also some suit different travel types more than others.

what sort of camping do you plan on?
Overnight/Weekends/hitting the road, base camping, on road or Off road, outback travels, caravan parks

theres several caravan/camping shows out there depending where you live...

Remember you don't need to spend $50,000 to be happy and comfortable out there...

Not sure , but I'm guessing that you are looking for a touring caravan. Airstreams are very nice , but .........

This sort of thing might suit.
