Online price v face to face at the dealer
« on: January 23, 2015, 08:01:30 PM »
Researching dual cabs online...........nearly all manufacturers allow you to build your car and it spits out a price.

I take it there is fat in the online price??

Is the a rough rule of thumb on the amount the price drops when you are sitting at the dealers??

Most annoyingly Isuzu doesn't give an online price..........it's the only dealer I have dropped into this far, i I was hoping to compare..

Didn't realise pov pack dual cabs start so high. For not much more wagons are starting to look good.

Dropped into two dealer today and I'm already over it.

I have only ever experienced higher prices online via dealer websites.

However, what is handy is to jump on Carsales and search for new cars with zero - 100kms. I was surprised to see this is where many dealers advertise new or near new cars they are seeking to move quickly. I got my Pajero this way and got a bargain on a brand newie I could never get through the dealer.

Spec up what you want and send it out to 6 or so dealers asking for their best cash, no trade price and then start negotiating from there.

Generally the online price is the manufacturers recommended pricing.  And a fair bit of wriggle room, as nomad said work out what you want to then chase quotes from dealers,.  I've generally emailed and then followed up with a call the day after.  If you have time you can go visit them all.

My 110 was written off earlier this week I'm trying to work out other options I can put together to match it. All other wagons are out of our price range (well change over price)

Dual cabs kinda come close but based on online RRP price a new defender is looking good considering I need a canopy with racks and two more racks over the cab.

I need good cargo space/load carry, full length roof rack (supa-wing, RV4 and surf ski or tinnie), goodish rear seats for three teenagers.

Pov pack, white and no accessaries

Hi-lux $49800
Navara $48100
Triton $33900
D-MAX $42500 eagle farm price
Colorado $51000

110 $54500, we know everything fits..."....have roof rack, no spare coin for other accessories.

Workout exactly what you want. Ring up a few dealers (weekdays) and ask to speak with the fleet manager. Use the name of the company you work for if you need to get through reception, and then tell the fleet manager I want xyz and ask for the quote. No bullsh1+ no attempted up selling. Be firm and direct with what you want and they think you are some bullish buyer and they won't generally muck you around cause there used to dealing with business people. I have never had a fleet manager knock me back even though I wasn't eligible to buy with a fleet discount.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

When I bought my defender 110 wagon at the end if 2013, I was originally quoted $58900, that was with metallic paint, leather pack, premium sound, tube side steps, color coded roof and flares and dual finish alloys. By the end of the week I had ordered and paid a deposit with the purchase price of $50500 and free front and rear floor mats. There is so much fat in the list price, I mean $4000 for predelivery and they still **** up the tyre pressures? C'mon

I  leaning towards another 110 as the dual cabs aren't doing much for me........it will be the brides daily driver

Silver, black roof, black flares, dual finish rim and MTR's which will be around $56k RRP.

Will stop at maybe Toyota and one other this arvo for a chat.
