Hi Everyone,

It my first time here. My family and I are nearly ready to by our first ever camper trailer. I have two young children and we go camping regularly. I tried to research what is the best camper to get but get so confused with all the mixed reviews. We have our eyes on one from Johnno's camper the off road deluxe. Just wandering if there are any other brands that are simular quality maybe a bit cheaper or better. Our price range is $10000 - $18000. The off road deluxe came with upgrade on kitchen, dual battery system and plumbing 60 litre water tank.

G'day Annabel and welcome ro myswag.  You have come to the right place for camper trailer advice.

Have a look at Customline and Trackabout, also Lifetsyle.  All good campers.  If you want a forward fold, look at Ecomate.  Good luck

Welcome to MySwag, with a budget like that you will be able to get a great trailer. I am a little biased and like the Tambo brand as as you are in Vic makes it an easy buy. Any of the other major players will be able to supply a great unit as well. Make sure you keep your eye on the classifieds as there are bargains to be had as well

Hi Annabel and welcome to the forum.

I'm a new camper trailer owner and narrowed my choice down to Johnno's, Customline and Camel. They are all built in Australia and I found them to be of good quality. I went with the Camel Beachcomber, mainly because of the deal I was offered on an ex-show demo model.

I would advise steering clear of the 'assembled in Australia from imported Chinese components' offerings as I've read some horror stories about the quality of some of them. I also had a chance to view some of them at a local Caravan and Camper show and was not impressed. They also mostly use imported 'canvas' which from reports does not hold up too well in harsh Aussie conditions

The best advice I can give you is to start your search with a visit to the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow next month.  http://www.caravanshow.com.au/
