Remember not all truck drivers use 40.

Channel 40 is used for mainly anywhere is Australia but up and down the pacific highway the majority of truck drivers use channel 29.

Highways we use 40 but turn it off when approaching large centres due to the language.  Otherwise have the scan on and usually use a group scan for channels 40, 18 and 10.  (40 is used by pilot/escort vehicles for oversized loads and is handy to listen to for that reason also.)   Kevin

We usually group scan 40, 18 and 10 (the fourbie convoy channel).  This keeps us informed of anything happening out there that may impact our travels.  If travelling with friends, we generally use 15 and add that to our group scan.

29 is the channel for Pacific Highway between Sydney & Brisbane.
40 is from the Summerland Way ( from Grafton to Casino) and West from there.
40 is from Sydney and roads South.

cheers.
