Road trip - Gold Coast to somewhere South of Sydney
« on: November 27, 2014, 09:56:20 AM »
Thinking about a road trip during January school hols with the billy lids, 12 and 13 from the Gold Coast to maybe Eden if time permits.

First stop; Hosanna Farmstay at Stokers Siding - never been before but looks preety good with the dam for swimming.

Second stop; Pebbly Beach campground, Yuagir NP - this place look fantastic, definite two night stop over.

Third stop; Cundle Flat Farm, near Glouster.

Fourth stop option 1; Some where near Shoal Bay, used to stay there as a kid on holidays, like to take my kids there to jump of the jetty. (Maybe Myall River camp ground).

Fourth stop option 2; head inland from Glouster to camp at Old Barra at Mudgee.

Fifth stop; somewhere south of Sydney?

Sixth Spot; ?

Still to decide on a few spots south of Sydney and for the return trip back up the coast. May stop into Tamworth for the Country Music Festival.

Any spots that you love that I may pass by or can deviate to camp at, would love to hear your ideas?

Cheers

Thinking you might be very lucky to get  a spot at Pebbly during the holidays. It gets quite popular as does most coastal spots ..

Pebbly would be packed from Christmas to New Year and start to thin out into January so you might be lucky.

This may help with your planning

You would have to check with the Ranger Bob.  I have known Pebbley to be Closed due to no room left to squeeze anyone else in just over the Christmas/New Year period itself.  Weekends would still be busy but not away of the area being closed on weekends

Anywhere there is sea, sand and a camping area will be busy any time during summer...but normally you will get a spot ( or two )..but in school holidays you might be very lucky if you do..

Always good to have a backup plan ( another campground ) just in case one is full.

The coast is great during summer, but holiday time is when I head west if I can...preferably by a river..

Good advice gronk, will put together a bit of a plan to head inland following the rivers.

Myall River Campground is on the wrong side of the water to Shoal Bay. There's a new jetty now. Cundle Flat Farm could be busy also. Knorritt Flat is in a similar area if Cundle Flat is no good.

Down on the south coast, Broulee was really nice, as was Pambula beach Van Park.

As mentioned, pretty busy but you never know. Hope it works out, sounds like a top trip!
