Leather seats - which seat covers?

Hi

I've just upgraded to a new (to me) tug with leather seats (NT Pajero). I've never owned a vehicle with leather seats - in fact I usually avoid leather seats but this was a deal too good to refuse ?.

I have two children in car child seats (4 & 6 yrs old). I'm worried about the child seats scratching/damaging the leather.

I've looked at canvas, neoprene (wetsuit material) and traditional fabric seat covers. I don't want a seat cover that will damage the leather (I assume leather also needs to breath??).

Unfortunately, lambs wool is out as my wife is allergic to lanolin (and therefore lambswool products give her an itchy rash).

So, Brains Trust... Those that have had leather seats for some time what have you found is the best for leather seats?

Good quality canvas would be my guess.id be concerned that neoprene would sweat and cause mold or some other damage

Tbh I found leather with kids easier to keep clean then with cloth seats. Just watch them with shoes and and sharp stuff. But to clean is easy with a wet chamois

First thing before you cover any leather seats it is imperative that you first clean and then condition it.
This will help stop the leather drying out under the covers.
Child car seats will definitely scratch and damage leather seats. One option is to put a specific child seat protector on or a neoprene cover.
What you want is just something with a bit of padding that will take the pressure from the edges of the base.
We get people in at work all the time for this and the above is what both the meguiars and seatcover world reps recommend.

Hey mate, I have 3 kids car seats on leather.
Get yoga mats from a sporting goods store - place them over the seat backs and base. They act as non slip bases as well as protecting the seats. They are a bit long, but you will need to drape some thing over the back of the seat anyway (remove headrests) to protect the top of the seat back from the straps.
They don't break down, and are easy to clean if any spillage. Also protects the seat where their legs dangle, and catches all the food and other misc stuff that kiddies drop down the seat which works it's way under the car seats.

Or use towels. But they allow the seats to slide a bit on the leather. Both solutions protect the seats from scratching.

As per what Mik01 said.

I pushed a couple of holes through where the headrest went and trimmed the bottom to sit against the seat.
Took the last seat out 3 or 4 months ago and all good.
